When sarcasm turns viral

In 2022, Théo was building a code sandbox for developers.

He was eager to show off the first version and get as much feedback as possible.

In his mind, Reddit was the perfect place for that.

But he knew a promotional post wouldn’t get many views.

So, he built an AI bot that replies sarcastically to every comment on a Reddit post.

He posted about the bot in the /r/internetIsBeautiful subreddit, sharing the URL to the bot code on his new sandbox website.

And of course, he had the bot run on the post itself.

In two days, the post was viewed over 300,000 times, received 480 upvotes and 2,200 comments. His code sandbox was visited 10,000 times.
