Every SEO guy checks their backlinks.
Usually with tools like Ahrefs or Semrush. You open it, see who’s linking to your website, and pat yourself on the back: more backlinks = better SEO.
Well, some backlink sellers have figured out how to use this to their advantage.
Here’s the trick.
They create websites with names like freshseolink or brightseolink.
Then they link to thousands of websites.
Not to improve their rankings → To get noticed.
Because when an SEO checks their new backlinks in Ahrefs, guess what shows up?
Their domain names.
And those names are basically ads for their services.
No cold emails. No LinkedIn messages. Just a backlink sitting in a report their target audience already checks.
Of course, most of these links are flagged as spam. And I’ve no idea how many people actually end up buying backlinks this way.
But the marketing logic is interesting.
They know exactly who their customers are, what tools they use, and where to put their message to get noticed.
Sometimes the best advertising isn’t where people browse. It’s where they work.
